There are several forms of fiberglass insulation, each with its own purpose.
In the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area, we are always on the lookout for ways to keep our homes warm, energy-efficient, and safe from the strong winds that can blow through this wonderful city. If your home doesn’t have enough insulation, then you might feel like you are losing an uphill battle trying to heat and cool your home during the changing seasons. One of the most widely used and effective types of insulation for your average home is fiberglass insulation. Not only has fiberglass insulation been used in various ways for almost 100 years now, but it is a versatile material that you can use in different areas of your home.
Fiberglass insulation batts are what people typically think of when they think about insulation. These large, pink rolls of fiberglass insulation are typically used in new construction areas to put between studs before sheetrock is installed. This makes them great for not only insulation purposes, but for a sound-barrier as well. Fiberglass insulation batts are manufactured to fit snugly between the studs of a home and don’t settle over time either.
Another form of fiberglass insulation is blown-in insulation, where shreds of fiberglass insulation are blown into areas that are difficult to reach, such as attics, crawlspaces, and even existing walls. This type of insulation can be used by itself or on top of existing insulation to add another layer (providing the previous layer is clean and in good shape, of course).
