We can help you choose the right insulation type and amount for your space.
Whether you are looking to save money on your utilities or want a greener property in the Indianapolis, Indiana area, insulation is a great place to start! Insulation does more than just keep your home warm in the winter, but it acts as a barrier and will also keep your home cooler in the summer. Here at 31-W Insulation, we want to help you with all your insulation needs. We have insulation varieties that will work with any type of property, including:
- Cellulose Insulation- An eco-friendly type of insulation, cellulose insulation is made from recycled papers and newsprint. Once it is treated to be insect resistant and flame retardant, you are left with a recycled product that does a great job of insulating your home.
- Fiberglass Insulation- Fiberglass insulation comes in many different forms- blown insulation fibers and batt insulation being the two most commonly used and recognized. Made from tiny strands of glass, this type of insulation looks very much like inedible cotton candy! Because you can customize the amount and R-value of your fiberglass insulation, you can get a great value for the money.
- Foam Insulation- Foam insulation comes in closed and open-cell forms, each ideal for certain areas. Foam insulation is a great insulation type since there are no gaps and it can be installed after a property is built. We use high-quality foam insulation from brands including Johns Manville, Demilec USA, and Icynene.
Frequently Asked Questions about Insulation
Since 1971, here at 31-W Insulation, we have gotten many, many questions about insulation! Even though we have expanded our home improvement options into other areas, insulation advice has always been something we’ve been proud to offer. We feel that an informed customer is our best customer, so here are some frequently asked questions to share with you.
What does R-value mean when selecting insulation?
R-value stands for resistance value which refers to the insulation’s capacity for resisting heat flow. In the winter, the insulation keeps warm air inside. During the summer, the insulation keeps warm air outside. The larger the R-value, the more effectively it insulates your home.
How do I know if my home needs replacement or additional insulation?
There are several factors that can give you an idea that it is time to have your home’s insulation checked out: first, if your heating and cooling costs have been rising without any other contributing factor; second, if you’ve had a roof leak, rodent infestation, or other potential for damaged insulation; third, if your home is more than ten years old, it may have not been built to today’s building codes and you could benefit by adding more insulation; and finally, if you notice temperature differences throughout the house, it could be an insulation issue.
What benefits could I experience from an insulation project?
The obvious benefit is energy efficiency, of course, but that isn’t the only benefit. Other benefits include adding value to your home, potential reduced noise transmission, removal of health hazards if you have old asbestos insulation, increased comfort in your home, eliminating drafts, and more.
