If you are in the market for new insulation, one of the most important decisions you will need to make is what type of insulation to use. In this article, we’ll provide an overview of the main types of insulation that we offer to help you get a sense of which is best for your needs.

Which Type of Insulation is Right for You?

  • Batt Insulation- The type of insulation that you are probably most familiar with is the kind that comes in big rolls. This is known as batt insulation, and it is typically made of fiberglass, although other materials such as mineral wool or even sheep’s wool can also be used. This type of insulation is generally used for walls and ceilings, fitting between the studs.
  • Foam Insulation- Another type of insulation is foam insulation, which is typically used for tighter corners or enclosed cavities. It is useful for these types of applications because it is applied in a semi-liquid foam form using a nozzle, and then it expands and hardens as it dries to seal any gaps.
  • Loose-Fill Insulation- Another variety of insulation that our team uses for hard-to-reach areas is known as loose-fill insulation. Loose-fill insulation is generally made of the same materials as batt insulation–such as fiberglass, mineral wool, cellulose, etc.–but those materials are left loose instead of being made into a cohesive roll. The loose insulation can be blown into small crevices to fill in even the tightest areas.
